About Me

Hi, I’m Emma - this is my story of how Sleepy Baby Happy Mama was born

My journey to becoming a sleep consultant started when I was pregnant with my daughter. After miscarrying twice, when we found out we were expecting again I was understandably anxious about how the pregnancy was progressing and if our baby would be ok.

Our baby girl arrived much earlier than expected - she was 3 months premature, born at 27 weeks and 5 days. She was in NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) until 4 days before her due date. Although it was an incredibly worrying time I learnt so much during the 12 weeks she was in hospital, and that is where my interest in baby and child development started.

When our daughter was discharged from hospital and came home she had severe reflux and a cows milk protein allergy (CMPA). This caused her to vomit after most feeds and had to remain upright for at least half an hour after a feed (even in the night!). She was feeding every 1-2 hours and we couldn’t get her to settle for naps or at bedtime. I was exhausted and felt completely helpless.

I am her Mum - why can’t I help her get to sleep?

I felt like I had failed.

How I transformed her sleep

After months of sleepless nights and days where I couldn’t focus and was running on empty, I knew something had to change.

I used a gentle sleep training method and techniques to transform her, and our, sleep and within a few weeks everything seemed much brighter.

She started to drop night feeds herself and sleep through the night, and was awake for longer and feeding much better during the day. She napped regularly on a predictable schedule, allowing us time to plan our day and have a more consistent routine.

I had so much more energy and I was a happier, more present mummy and wife.

My approach: gentle, responsive, and tailored to your family

I believe in a gentle approach to sleep training, one that prioritises your child’s emotional well-being while helping them develop healthy sleep habits. I don’t use the “cry-it-out” method. Instead, I focus on building positive sleep associations, setting a consistent routine, and responding to your child’s needs with care. My goal is to support your instincts as a parent while guiding your child towards better sleep in a way that feels right for your family.

What I offer: personalised sleep support

Every child is different, and there’s no one-size-fits-all solution to sleep. That’s why I create customised sleep plans designed specifically for your baby or toddler’s age, temperament, and unique sleep challenges. Whether you’re struggling with short naps, bedtime battles, or frequent night wakings, I’ll work with you to find the right approach.

With my guidance, you will learn how to:

  • Establish a calming bedtime routine that helps your child settle

  • Adjust sleep schedules to ensure they’re getting the right amount of rest

  • Create a sleep-friendly environment that encourages longer, more peaceful sleep

  • Use gentle settling techniques to support independent sleep, without stress or tears

And I’ll be here to offer encouragement and advice throughout the process, so you always feel supported.

Why I love what I do

There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing the difference restful sleep can make for families. It’s not just about helping babies sleep through the night—it’s about giving parents the tools and confidence to support their child’s sleep journey. When everyone gets the rest they need, families can enjoy happier mornings, calmer evenings, and more time together.
